St. Vincent's follows the curriculum set down by the Department of Education & Skills, which may be amended from time to time in accordance with the Education Act 1998 & 2000. On the tabs below you will find information on all the different courses and programmes we offer.

Junior Certificate

At Junior cycle we offer the following subjects:

JCSP

The Junior Cert Schools Programme provides a curriculum that makes the Junior Certificate more accessible to those young people who may leave school without formal qualifications. By providing a subject and assessment framework suitable to their needs. It encourages a positive self image and a sense of acheivement

Transition Year

This is a one year programme that facilitates the transition from Junior Cycle to Senior Cycle. It encourages personal and social development. St. Vincent's has devised its own transition year programme to cater for the needs of its students. It includes:

  • UniTY programming
  • Young social Innovators of the year programme
  • First Aid
  • Credit Union
  • Mini Company
  • Road Safety Programme
  • Mental Health Matters
  • GAA Coaching
  • Health and safety issues
  • Self Defence

Leaving Certificate

At senior cycle students study seven subjects of which four must be Irish, English, Maths and French.They must also take religion classes and Physical Education but these classes are not examinable. They can then choose from:

  • Physics
  • Construction Studies

LCA

The Leaving Cert Applied programme is a course running parallel to the established Leaving Certificate which aims to strike a balance between both the academic and the practical. Modules on offer in this course include:

  • Spanish

  • Vocational Preparation
  • Career Guidance
  • Leisure Studies
  • Irish
  • Social Studies
  • Work Experience
  • Office Administration ad customer care.

UniTY Partner School

St. Vincent's is a UniTY Partner School.

UniTY is an initiative of the DCU Access Service which aims to provide innovative educational opportunities to Transition Year students from communities in North Dublin which are currently underrepresented in higher education.

The programme is designed to increase student engagement in education and to raise motivation and career aspirations.
