St. Vincent's School Self Evaluation - SSE

Literacy

It is our aim to gather information on the literacy capabilities of our student. From this we hope to improve literacy skills and student engagement in the whole school community. It is our hope that students attain their maximum potential through the creation of a learning environment which responds to the needs of the students and gives them autonomy over their own learning. Teachers are encouraged to evaluate their methods and reflect on the teaching and learning in their classroom. They tailor their teaching to achieve improved learning outcomes.

Numeracy

One of our main objectives is to promote the use of numeracy throughout the whole school and not merely confine it to the maths classroom.

e-learning

E-Learning is simply learning which takes place with the assistance of digital technology. The use of computers and other digital devices together with online learning tools and materials are the pre-requisites for e-learning to take place. When digital technologies are successfully integrated with the approporaite pedagogies to meet the objectives of the curriculum it can be said that a form of e-learning has taken place. Put simply e learning can be called "anytime, anywhere"Learning. It offers opportunities for self-directed and more personalised learning.
